Biography

Described as “captivating in both singing and acting”
for her portrayal in the title role of Puccini’s Tosca, Patti
Graetz has been delighting audiences for more than
two decades. This Metropolitan Opera National
Council Auditions’ winner for Arizona, has performed
with Houston Grand Opera, Texas Opera Theater,
Arizona Opera, Opera Fort Collins (Colorado),
Houston's Opera in the Heights, Opera Rediviva
(Houston), the Phoenix Symphony, the Symphony of
the West Valley, and the St Paul Symphony Orchestra.

Favorite roles include Mimi in La Bohème, Suzel in L’Amico Fritz, the
Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro and Tosca. Her love of twentieth
century music has led to numerous recitals, premieres of three song
cycles by American composer Craig Bohmler, the creation of the role of
Rivalin in the Philip Glass opera The Making of the Representative for
Planet Eight, performances of Poulenc’s one woman opera La Voix
Humaine, as well as orchestral performances of Barber’s Knoxville:
Summer of 1915, and Richard Strauss’ Vier letzte Lieder.

As soprano soloist she has performed Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem,
Schubert’s Mass in G, Mozart’s Regina Coeli (K 108), Poulenc’s
Gloria, Bach’s Magnificat, Haydn’s Messa di Maria Teresa and
Handel's Messiah.

From 1991 to 2003, Mrs Graetz sang with Showcase Concerts and the
Royal Renaissance Singers and was a principal artist with OPERA-tunity,
both being Arizona state-endorsed, educational ensembles.

She made her Australian debut for Australian Music Events at Opera in
the Market in March 2005 and was a featured soloist at Opera in The
Alps 2006 alongside David Hobson, James Morrison and conductor
Tommy Tycho.
